Involve! Include! Improve!
In April I was involved by Attiva-Mente in the project "Step into the future" in Sibenik, Croatia. This was my first step into this organization and the first step in considering myself a youth worker.
Before our departure, I participated at the recruitment of 5 young boys and girls interested in our theme: How young people can find a job and present themselves at their best. I organized some meeting with them: we talked about the topic, the project in general and also our feelings and expectations. It was a bit difficult for me at the beginning, but now I'm very satisfied about our results. We had fun, but most of all, learned a lot about ourselves and our possibilities in Europe :) Alice Frasca In May 2017, we invited 2 future group leaders and 3 former group leaders to engage in a skype chat to discuss the responsibilities of being a group leader. It was a great opportunity to share learning and experiences and prepare the new leaders for their responsibilities.
The following notes were taken from the meeting and will form the basis of our briefing papers for all future group leaders. Notes on Skype Group Leader Briefing
Our organization ADEL (slovak partner) joined City Bound Europe that is a network of several partner organizations from different EU countries working with adventure-based learning. Through set of activities (PBA, Training Courses, Seminars about Youth Policy and many youth exchanges organized. The main aim of the network are:
- raising awareness of common European culture and cultural heritage of Europe among youngsters, - Building solidarity, understanding and cohesion among them by breaking up national divisions, language barriers and seeking universal values, - Building skills and capacities of our youngsters, youth leaders and organizations, - Consolidating non-formal learning on international level and raising its social, institutional and formal recognition. Thereby, we are raising the quality of non-formal learning activities, contributing to the professionalization of youth work all around Europe, developing the methodology of adventure-based learning, by building innovations, sharing ideas and sense of creativity in order to build big, international, influential and professional European Network. For this project, particularly is important to mention training for youth leaders, since one of the aim of this project is to increase youth leaders capacity. Therefore during those trainings, future youth leaders get a chance to: - learn how to set the learning objectives and how to achieve it using adventure-based learning methodology - get the expert knowledge on evaluation of an adventure-based learning experience - develop the training programme for youth leaders on City Bound Europe Network - learn how to perform effectively in front to the group |
