Involve! Include! Improve!
On 17th of February, in Curie-Skłodowska's middle school in Warsaw the president of our Foundation, Jerzy Szczepańczyk, and 2 volunteers, Zosia and Paulina, had a meeting with 16 year old students. During this event they were promoting our organization, were talking about opportunities of Erasmus+ program, about volunteering and EVS under E+. Every student and teacher got a promotional leaflet, where they could find information about our current project with Estonian organization Seiklejate Vennaskond "Involve, Include, Improve", which they were promoting. They shered their own experiences with volunteering and Eramus+ program, talked about our projects, both local and international, focusing on those, where we need volunteers to support our events. Really surprisingly was that not only almost everyone was already involved in different actions as a volunteer, as they have a big charity event once a year at school, but also were really keen on involving in our actions, especially when we were talking about the opportunities of youth mobilities and travelling to countries like Spain, Portugal, Greece or Italy. Some of them already contacted us and are helping preparing and going to participate in our Polish-Lithuanian project this year in Poronin!Paragraph. Kliknij tutaj, aby edytować.
A tricky energizer! The participants were asked to arrange their seats alphabetically, according to first name or in order of birthday month and date before starting the main activity. Than, the activity “A Step Forward” from the Compass Book was started. Each of the participants had a different profile: a retired man in a wheelchair, a gipsy or a rich manager… depending on some question given by the organiser you make a step forward or a step backwards. At the end the debate starts. All of this activities contributed to the personal development of the kids, but also of the volunteers by preparing the activities and improving the skills of talking and listening. Youth Discovery Ventures attended The University of Sheffield Refreshers Fair promoting our volunteering, youth exchange and EVS opportunities. We spoke to around 40 people with an attendance of 150 and made links with other organisations in the city working to promote international opportunities.
Our organization ADEL (slovak partner) joined City Bound Europe that is a network of several partner organizations from different EU countries working with adventure-based learning. Through set of activities (PBA, Training Courses, Seminars about Youth Policy and many youth exchanges organized. The main aim of the network are:
- raising awareness of common European culture and cultural heritage of Europe among youngsters, - Building solidarity, understanding and cohesion among them by breaking up national divisions, language barriers and seeking universal values, - Building skills and capacities of our youngsters, youth leaders and organizations, - Consolidating non-formal learning on international level and raising its social, institutional and formal recognition. Thereby, we are raising the quality of non-formal learning activities, contributing to the professionalization of youth work all around Europe, developing the methodology of adventure-based learning, by building innovations, sharing ideas and sense of creativity in order to build big, international, influential and professional European Network. For this project, particularly is important to mention training for youth leaders, since one of the aim of this project is to increase youth leaders capacity. Therefore during those trainings, future youth leaders get a chance to: - learn how to set the learning objectives and how to achieve it using adventure-based learning methodology - get the expert knowledge on evaluation of an adventure-based learning experience - develop the training programme for youth leaders on City Bound Europe Network - learn how to perform effectively in front to the group |
