Involve! Include! Improve!
By the time we celebrated International Youth Day, both in Funchal city and in Câmara de Lobos, 12th of August, we took the chance to talk about our projects and exchanging good practices with other local organisations. On this day, we focused our attention in promoting EVS opportunities. At the event, there were ex-participants of the programme, new comers, and representatives from other organisations.
In September, at the Regional Meeting of Youth and Students organisations, we promoted not only EVS, but also exchanges and training courses. The events were a good opportunity to establish more local partnerships and find new volunteers. We live in a remote island, which makes it more difficult to have such opportunities as the ones that exists on the mainland. These events are important to disseminate the information about Erasmus+ programmes and other European funds that can help us, as organisation to give response to a variety of requests among our local young people. One of the major issues we face in Madeira is youth unemployment and providing such projects will be very helpful for their future. We are increasing the number of local and international partnerships and in a longer-term, we are sure, the number of young people attending these projects will be bigger. Today, ADEL celebrated 30 years of Erasmus program since we were also invited to participate in the conference with other organizations and schools that have enabled already more than 100,000 Slovaks to get this unique experience. We managed to meet with other people working in this field, exchange opinions and build new partnerships
On 23/09/2017 we organized a meeting with youth and volunteers. Meeting was about Erasmus+ program. Through these activities we want to improve the quality of work in non-governmental organizations and also promote Erasmus+ program among young people.
During the meeting we use non-formal methods: - integration games and activities; - presentations prepared by the participants – the participants prepared presentations about their organizations; - thematic discussions and brainstorming – participants divided into small mixed groups exchanged their experiences regarding youth work; Our Director, went to visit some of our international partners in Finland and Estonia. Reconnecting with former participants of projects and current EVS that we have sent from the UK. We met with our new Finnish partner EKO Energy and discussed how we can continue to work together in the future through EVS.
Engaging the local community, we hosted bunting making workshops and then the Little Sheffield Feast that brought together over 200 people to discuss local culture, volunteering opportunities and talk to them about our international work through Erasmus+. The event was supported by our EVS Volunteers.
