Involve! Include! Improve!
In April I was involved by Attiva-Mente in the project "Step into the future" in Sibenik, Croatia. This was my first step into this organization and the first step in considering myself a youth worker.
Before our departure, I participated at the recruitment of 5 young boys and girls interested in our theme: How young people can find a job and present themselves at their best. I organized some meeting with them: we talked about the topic, the project in general and also our feelings and expectations. It was a bit difficult for me at the beginning, but now I'm very satisfied about our results. We had fun, but most of all, learned a lot about ourselves and our possibilities in Europe :) Alice Frasca Thank to this project, we could open the doors of our web-radio to Ivan, Samuele, Leonardo, Daniele and Simon. This local activity is managed by Associazione Attiva-Mente in Modica (Italy)
After a training course, they started to broadcast Creative Commons contents and participated broadcast. The main themes of these broadcast, that started in April 2017, are about society, youth problems and satirics. Each broadcast is following by at least 10 listeners that interact with speakers and broadcast director. These young people, developed skills in webradio management but also civic competences and communication ability. Until now, they broadcasted each Saturday gathering together more 60 people in total. And they're still on fire! If you want to follow RadioSbaglio, our radio, just stay tuned here! 26th April brought together Tartu's young people interested in the activities and projects offered by Seiklejate Vennaskond. We met in the evening in one of the university buildings, to share some stories and give overview of Seiklejate Vennaskond's activities. This event was part of Tartu student days.
Seiklejate Vennaskond participated on 19th April in Tallinn student days with event "Discover the world through adventure!". We organized information session in Tallinn Student House, where we shared our experiences and told interested youngsters, how they could use Erasmus+ opportunities to discover themselves, Europe, or even the world! :)
Seiklejate Vennaskond took part of youth employment fair called "Suveks tööle!" ("Go work in summer!"). This was a massive event, with more than 3000 participants aged 13-18 from Tallinn and Harjumaa region. Kristi and Heleri were present whole time, and giving out suggestions, tips and introducing all the international opportunities. Hundreds of youngsters gave their emails, to receive more information about Seiklejate Vennaskond, Erasmus+ and international opportunities. Never have we experienced so intense fair, with so many interested youngsters coming all at once! Hopefully we can send the first ones abroad very soon :)
Chilly spring evening brought together young people interested in doing European voluntary service to the European Union house in central Tallinn. Our ex-EVS volunteers Karolina and Maria shared their stories from Romania, from organization called Wild Carpathia. Eleri talked about her short term service in Bulgaria, digging up Thracian heritage (and by the way - finding an old skeleton). After that, it was time for practical tips how to apply for EVS projects and overview about current offers was given, too.
Spreading out information on "Erasmus Plus", it's quite a challenge. But at "Galilei-Campailla" Gynasium in Modica wasn't that hard. With the help of a former EVS volunteer - Flavia - and our president, we promoted Erasmus Plus and the possibilities on this programme.
On 6th April, EVS information event took place in Tartu. First of all, Orvi shared her 10 months experience in Romania, with some great stories and unexpected events. After that Rauno shared his experience from Sheffield, in United Kingdom (6 months project). It was great to hear, that even though host organization was hosting EVS volunteers for the first time, they did a great job! After that, Heleri from Seiklejate Vennaskond gave a little overview how could future volunteers apply themselves. All stories must have been inspiring, as after the information event several participants decided to apply for EVS themselves, and one of them, got right away accepted to the same UK project, where Rauno participated before! :)
In the evening of 22nd March, international opportunities evening took place in Tartu Art House, organized by Lille Maja youth center. Seiklejate Vennaskond was represented by Kaidi, Karolina, Eliisa, Kristin, Käti, Kaur, Greete, Orvi and Heleri. Everyone shared their project stories and experiences from international projects.
There was totally 3 rooms - one for short lectures, other for experience sharing and a general fair area. Heleri made a short presentation about international opportunities in lecture area and Kaidi talked about her EVS experience in Portugal. Others shared their experience about projects in Romania, Turkey, Estonia, Poland, Italy and other places in fair area, in small conversations with youngsters. We enjoyed it, hopefully the participants of the event liked it, too! :) In February and March "Back to School" campaign took place in Estonia. That meant, that people of different professions shared their stories with youngsters. The idea was, that young people would have about either future plans either easier or more difficult choices take make after the lecture (depending on your point of view). Anyway, the idea was to share inspiration and fulfill the 45 minutes of time with emotions and sparkle up new ideas. Seiklejate Vennaskond, represented by Heleri and Kaidi, visited Tartu Hansa Gymnasium, and shared their stories with 3 different classes of 8th graders. Heleri shared her experience in discovering the world through adventure and Kaidi shared her one year EVS experience from Portugal. |
