Involve! Include! Improve!
What better way to disseminate Erasmus+ opportunities, than through the ones who already did it before?
In October, the 3rd, together with the EVS volunteers, we organized Living library, adapted from the concept of Human Library. At a Human Library, instead of books, you can “borrow” people. People with unique life stories volunteer to be the “books.” For a certain amount of time, you can ask them questions and listen to their stories, The subject of the event was living abroad. There were 4 living books and inumerous readers. Our main goal was to encourage young people and the community to travel, live or study abroad, expanding horizons and combating stereotypes and prejudices about other cultures. At the same time we were promoting Erasmus+ opportunities, focusing on EVS. The readers got acquainted with four stories about volunteers that lived in Ukraine, Turkey, United Kingdom and Portugal. They shared about the challenges they faced while living in a different country, the benefits and how they overcomed obstacles. It was a really productive event. The readers were students from a local secondary school. They came with their teachers and friends and in an interactive way, got to know more about the programme and expressed their interest in having such experiences. We finished our event by making a small group discussion on how was the process of Living library, how the "books" felt and what new things the "readers" learnt. Comments are closed.
